Giving

When I wrote the annual letter last year, things at Trinity Center seemed quite bleak. Now we have had close to two years dealing with COVID-19. I have lots of good news to report but we are still dealing with a number of issues related to the pandemic. Despite having to reduce our numbers and following strict CDC guidelines, our summer camps, Camp Trinity and Summer Sound to Sea Day Camp, were very successful. The best news is that we did not have a single case of COVID. The permanent staff and summer staff deserve all the credit. Unfortunately, we are still having cancellations for conferences as some people remain leery of gathering in groups. Further, our kitchen is understaffed as the country seems to be, especially the night shift, causing us to think out of the box in feeding groups at night. Even so, for the most part we are very pleased with how things are going.

When we found ourselves without an executive director in late summer of 2020, Mary Beth Bradberry and Stephanie Rudolph stepped up as interim co-directors. They were an incredible team. Sadly, this fall Stephanie accepted another position and left Trinity Center. Her love for Trinity was evident in everything she did, and although she did an incredible job, she found that she needed to go in a different direction. Mary Beth is continuing to serve solo as interim director, for which I am eternally grateful.

The Trinity Center Board of Managers has been hard at work this year planning for the future of the Center. We developed a new mission statement, new board bylaws, and we are beginning the search process for a new permanent executive director. We have also developed a closer relationship with Executive Council, whose support has been vital to us during the pandemic. The presence of the Bishop and Sandy at Trinity Center this summer meant more to everyone than I can express.

Some people have been concerned over our offering the 3 plus acres of land for sale. There was never any plan to develop this parcel and with hurricanes and a pandemic, we saw that we had to have an endowment to help us survive these crises and ensure the long-term health of Trinity Center.

We hope to have a new Executive Director in place in early 2022. We still have a lot to recover from and the pandemic isn’t yet over. Your gifts and support are vital to us and so appreciated. As we approach the end of 2021, please remember us as you consider any end of the year gift giving.
