Annual Appeal: Come & See
December 3, 2022
The theme of Trinity Center’s 2022 Annual Appeal is “Come and See”. Taken from John 1:39, this biblical passage tells the story of the calling of John and Andrew, the first disciples:
The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, ‘Look, here is the Lamb of God!’ The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi’ (which translated means Teacher), ‘where are you staying?’ He said to them, ‘Come and see.’ They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day.
John and Andrew were curious about Jesus and wanted to know more about him. Jesus, instead of being too busy for John and Andrew, immediately made time, inviting them to ‘Come and See’. And not just a small amount of time: verse 39 says that Jesus stayed with them ‘that day.’ For those who were seeking Jesus, He always had the time, and the interest to speak to those that really want to be with Him. What a wonderful example of radical hospitality!
This passage spoke to me in a number of ways as I considered the parallels to Trinity Center. First, Trinity Center provides a physical setting to be with the Divine, extending an open invitation to all who seek to spend as much time as they like… a day, a weekend, or even a week. Second, to those same individuals, we provide radical hospitality, offering rest and nourishment under the protection of our beautiful canopy. Finally, we provide an opportunity to focus on discernment – John and Andrew pursued Jesus and discovered their calling as disciples. Who knows what spending reflective time at Trinity Center could lead to? What life-changing, world-changing, or kingdom-changing moments await?
So, Come and See. Come and see what Trinity is all about – spend time with the divine, experience radical hospitality, maybe even find your calling!
Trinity Center is a transformative place. A place of life-changing experiences and epiphanies. Please join us in our mission to extend these experiences to all of our visitors. Make a gift to the Trinity Center Annual Appeal, and then plan a time to Come and See for yourself!
All the Best,
John C. Koch
